The Ferrari 512 S, bearing chassis number 1004, was a notable contender in the 1970 World Sportscar Championship. Piloted by Jacky Ickx and Peter Schetty, this car participated in several key races that year. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ickx and Schetty were assigned to drive the #5 Ferrari 512 S. Unfortunately, their race concluded prematurely due to an accident during the 11th hour, highlighting the challenging and perilous nature of endurance racing. Jacky Ickx, a Belgian driver renowned for his versatility, had a distinguished career spanning Formula One and endurance racing, securing six Le Mans victories. Peter Schetty, hailing from Switzerland, was recognized for his expertise in hill climb events and later transitioned into a managerial role within Ferrari's racing division.
