The March 701 was driven by Ronnie Peterson in the 1970 Monaco Grand Prix. Peterson was a Swedish racing driver who competed in Formula One from 1970 to 1978. The 1970 Monaco Grand Prix was notable for a number of reasons, including being the debut race for both the March 701 and the Tyrrell 001. In addition, there was a major accident at the start of the race that involved several cars, including Peterson's March 701. Despite this setback, Peterson managed to finish the race in 7th place, a strong performance for a debut race.
