The Porsche 911 (991) RSR No. 912 entered by the Porsche GT Team at the 2018 Petit Le Mans was campaigned by Earl Bamber (New Zealand), Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium), and Mathieu Jaminet (France) in the fiercely competitive GTLM class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. After qualifying third in class, the trio ran strongly into the race and were even on course for victory for much of the ten-hour endurance classic at Road Atlanta, but a drive-through penalty and tough competition dropped them back; they ultimately finished sixth in class despite a puncture and strategic challenges.
What sets the Petit Le Mans apart from other races is its 1000-mile/10-hour format, blending sprint-race speed with long-distance strategy and traffic management on the technical Road Atlanta circuit—making it one of North America’s toughest and most celebrated endurance events.
